By following not convention, but the laws of physics, Lightyear One gets the most out of every ray of sunlight and every joule. Its energy use of only 83 wh per kilometre on the WLTP cycle enables it to reach a range of 725 kilometres.
With its five square metres of solar panels charging up to 70 kilometres of range per day, there is no need to charge on a daily basis: the car does it itself. Comprising solar cells encased in safety glass, the sturdy solar roof and hood live up to rigorous auto industry regulation.

Lightyear One’s design allows it to attain a record-breaking drag coefficient (Cd) of less than 0.20. It is the most aerodynamic five seater to date, including 780l storage space.
Lightyear's integrated solar technology greatly reduces the need for grid-charging. The patented double curved solar array achieves 215 Wp/m² and is fully automotive compliant. The solar cells cover a total of 5m².
With four independently controlled in-wheel motors and 97% efficient drivetrain, we achieved a weighted WLTP cycle efficiency of 91% and a total peak vehicle torque of 1920 Nm.
We found the balance of using lighter building materials like aluminium and carbon fiber while maintaining rigorous safety standards.
Efficiently integrating the latest technologies, we capture and re-use any residual heat to maintain our critical components at their optimal temperature with minimum energy loss.
