World gets its first glimpses of Lightyear 2 at CES 2023 as waitlist officially opens

This month, CES 2023 set the stage for thousands to explore solar electric mobility, framed by the bright lights and sunny skies of Las Vegas. Between 5 — 8 January, visitors discovered Lightyear 0 and got the very first glimpses of our next mass-market model, Lightyear 2.

CES 2023 is one of the most influential tech events in the world, attracting thousands of enthusiasts, trailblazing exhibitors and industry professionals from across the globe.

It’s also a renowned proving ground for the latest, upcoming technologies and the first event on this year’s calendar for Lightyear. That got us thinking; what better place to give the world a taste of a limitless solar electric future?

Lightyear 2 — An exclusive sneak peek

At the Lightyear booth, a mass of visitors sidestepped slowly, curious eyes pressed against carefully-structured wooden panelling. These were the first real-life glances at our next solar electric car.

Like its predecessor, Lightyear 2 will deliver more time, energy and freedom to travel without range anxiety or the anchor of charging stations.

We aim for more than 500 miles (800 km) between plug charges. For short and medium distances, Lightyear 2 could even sustain itself without a socket in sight; powering daily drives with 100% clean, free solar energy.

Lightyear 0 — Pioneering proof

Lightyear 0, in its fully-fledged production design, also made its debut on US soil as crowds explored its groundbreaking technologies up close.

As the world’s first solar car, most aerodynamic and efficient, Lightyear 0 lights the way for a new and exciting vein of electric driving. Freedom to move anywhere, without straining the power grid or our planet.

Product Marketing Manager for Lightyear 0, Aylin Ozyigit, said: “It was a real joy to see so many gather at the Lightyear booth to see Lightyear 0 and get their first peeks of Lightyear 2.

“We always enjoy the looks of surprise and the broad smiles when people discover what solar electric technologies can do. Lightyear 0 represents a bright future we can all get excited about, with Lightyear 2 being the first real leap towards making it more accessible.

“It was a whirlwind four days in Las Vegas. The enthusiasm and support for our technologies, and mission were truly energising. Everyone left feeling charged for what’s to come, and so are we!”
